Dear Mrs. Schryer,
Following your announcement in “Be Ready for Success”, the seventeen Early Intervention programs met July 11th 2008 and discussed the announcement of increased funding per seat. We are all pleased to see an increase of $150 per child in this plan. This increase will help us work toward maintaining a high quality service for the children of New Brunswick.
However in our meeting with the Minister of Social Development in October 2007, we asked that our annual budget be indexed to the cost of living. According to recent statistics, this increase of $150 would bring us to the equivalent of the cost of living of the year 2001. Therefore, we would like to understand why this increase doesn’t reflect the reality of the cost of living in 2008; since we must absorb this reality through the totality of our expenses.
In waiting for your response, we thank you in advance for your collaboration.
Sincerely,
Ginette Boudreau,
For the New Brunswick Early Intervention Association
